How can future and current teachers learn together, rather than separately?
This report presents the co-education model developed and tested within the XXI-EU-TEACH project across Denmark, Italy, Romania, Finland and Spain. Built on a practice-oriented tradition of collaborative learning, the model brings pre-service and in-service teachers together to jointly plan, teach and evaluate lessons on emerging subject areas such as digital empowerment, sustainability, entrepreneurship and playful learning.
The report contextualises the model within the broader challenges facing European teacher education – from the persistent theory-practice gap to funding constraints and heavy workloads – and documents how it was adapted and applied in three different national educational contexts. It offers a concrete, tested approach to bridge initial and continuing teacher training simultaneously, in real school settings.
