Handbook

This handbook is aimed at trainers, educators and social workers who work with adult migrants in their social inclusion process and who want to use environmental awareness raising as a horizontal tool for this integration process.
First of all, we present the basic methodology of the proposal – Theatre of the Oppressed – in
addiction to various initiatives worldwide where participatory theatre is used to address issues of interculturality, migration and environment. We will look at a five case explanations: Teatro Césaire (Fort-de-France); Compañía Maguey Teatro (Lima); Un planeta migrante (Italy); four different plays by La Xixa Teatre on environmental awareness (Barcelona) and, finally, the forum theatre workshop “Tiro, luego existo” (Paris).
In chapter four, we show the learning path followed in pilot workshops implemented by the different project organisations. In each of the sub-sections, workshop implementation is detailed, along with examples of activities carried out, and suggestions for difficulties and challenges that may arise when developing similar projects. We then break down 15 activities for three different moments during the workshop: group building, de-mechanisation, and construction of a forum theatre piece. These activities can be replicated in different contexts under the premise of interculturality and environmental awareness.
