Pedagogical and Methodological Studies

Based on the method of case analysis developed by Margalit Cohen-Emerique, the reader aims at helping teachers analyze “critical incidents”, which come up through their work with children or parents from other cultural backgrounds, and facilitate the identification of concrete solutions to the problem. “Critical incidents” are situations where misunderstandings and tensions linked to cultural differences may rise (for instance: different approaches to physical contact, gender roles, eating habits etc). Various incidents have been collected in the partner countries to give a detailed and representative overview of the types of situations where cultural differences can cause misunderstandings and/or conflicts between teachers, parents and children.
