Thanks to the Peer to Peer Players project, a game app has been created, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Play Store and Apple Store. Its ultimate goal is to raise awareness of the importance of psychosocial health and, in particular, to make young people aware of the risks of the web and the use of psychoactive substances, two issues that are often related to each other.

The game app is more specifically a “serious game”, therefore containing elements that have, other than an entertainment purpose, an educational one. It has been created in collaboration with the developers of Sylphe Labs.

The official presentation of the app was carried out in two events on 21 and 29 January 2020, at the two schools thar have been actively involved in the project: Liceo Scientifico “Benedetto Croce” and Istituto Magistrale Statale “Regina Margherita” in Palermo.

During these two days, several students were involved in the events, including the peer-counselors who participated in the project and the students who took part in the research carried out within the project through the completion of questionnaires.

The events gave the students the opportunity to know all the stages reached since the beginning of the project. Moreover, they participated actively through small group activities that allowed them to reflect on the topics dealt with during the project.

The days of promotion of the app began with a presentation of the results of the research by Cristiano Inguglia, professor at the Università degli Studi di Palermo; moreover, the training and information activities carried out during the two years of the project were retraced, and the consulting service was presented, with a description of its birth and development made by the trainers from CESIE and I.S.I. Onlus and with the important testimonies of some of the peer-counselors, who shared with their schoolmates the emotions they felt during the whole process and the importance of being a support for their peers. The creation of the game app was described by the developers of Sylphe Labs and the two winning students of the ideas contest, which was launched to compete for the creation of the app, received their winner certificates. The events were also attended by the President of the First District of the city of Palermo, Massimo Castiglia, who shared the common idea of taking care of young people in all aspects. Finally, the students who participated in the events carried out small group activities where they shared and discussed the strengths and emotions that can be gained from receiving and giving support to their peers.

These were intense days full of reflections, where all the activities carried out could be retraced and where new ideas and resolutions emerged to take care of our own psychological, physical and social health and that of those around us.
