Final report

The SafeNet project, funded by the EU under the CERV-2022-EQUAL programme, is a large-scale initiative aimed at monitoring and combating online hate speech throughout Europe. Coordinated by the International Network Against Cyber Hate (INACH), the project brought together 21 partner NGOs across 14 countries. Throughout the project, the consortium documented 21,470 cases of online hate speech across social media platforms and documented responses by major tech companies. The report presents a comprehensive analysis of hate trends targeting various communities, including antisemitic, anti-Muslim, racist, xenophobic, anti-Roma, anti-LGBTQIA+, and anti-Gypsy hate. In addition to monitoring, SafeNet partners conducted educational training, published thematic fact sheets, engaged in advocacy to improve platform accountability, and disseminated findings through coordinated communication campaigns.
