Promoting an equitable distribution of care responsibilities among children and teenagers through a gender transformative approach.

Context

V.O.I.C.E. is based on the fundamental premise that every woman should have the same possibilities of choice and development in their life project, without being affected by the unfair mental burden of household care or by the perspective of our societies that struggle to recognize the potentials stifled by gender discrimination and stereotypes. In this regard, V.O.I.C.E. mobilizes a European consortium of experts in social inclusion, anti-discrimination, gender awareness, and non-formal education through targeted activities at children and young people to dismantle persistent gender stereotypes and facilitate the equitable distribution of care responsibilities through a gender transformative approach. By raising awareness over the gender care gap, the project will promote a local work culture that encourages a dual earner dual care model from a young age.

Objectives

  • To analyse the root causes of the gender care gap, including direct and indirect transmission of gender stereotypes.
  • To develop a European model and toolkit that embodies a culturally inclusive vision, facilitating stakeholders who interact with children, youth, and parents to foster sustainable change and promote a gender transformative approach.
  • To engage educational communities to enhance understanding and support for gender equality in care responsibilities.
  • To raise awareness on persistent gender stereotypes and promote the equitable distribution of care responsibilities.
  • To establish community-led initiatives that empower individuals and promote active participation in advancing gender equality.

Activities

  • Field research on perspectives and insights related to gender stereotypes and gender discrimination.
  • Creation and implementation of the V.O.I.C.E Model with activities to raise awareness on the gender care gap among local networks, among children, and among women and people in vulnerable situations.
  • Development of “Let’s hear your V.O.I.C.E.” podcast series to capitalize the V.O.I.C.E Model.
  • Production and roll out of the V.O.I.C.E. awareness campaign on the gender care gap.
  • Final International Event
