Strengthening of regional adaptability and resilience by providing training of the public administration employees and other stakeholders in the area of regional development.
Context
The recent occurrence of many different adversities – financial, environmental, health and migration crises, among others – showed the urgent need to strengthen the preparation of countries and regions for prompt response.
While some of these disasters are likely unavoidable, we can limit the potential threat and impact of some others if we are prepared and have sufficient knowledge and skills on crises and instability management. However, this process is not complete and important shortcomings undermine the stability of the European economy and society as a whole.
Objectives
- Increase the adaptability of regions and their resilience in order to thrive despite adversities and crises;
- Enhance transversal competences, knowledge, and skills of public administration and other relevant key players (HEI students, NGOs) in the area of resilient regions and community building;
- Provide effective tools and methods for the development of regional policies;
- Promote the exchange of good practice and the creation of an informal network between the political authorities involved.
Activities
- European research about regional policies and training needs in the field of resilient community building;
- Involvement of public administrations, political authorities and other key regional representatives through online questionnaires and interviews;
- 3-day joint staff training event (France) on resilient community building;
- Preparation and further training delivery for 100 public administrators and relevant key players’ representatives in 4 European countries (Slovakia, Italy, France, Spain).
