From 7th to 15th November, 2015, 39 participants (youth workers, project managers, consultant, and other professionals) from 15 countries (Italy, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom) have been involved in the activities of “Welfare – Flexicurity and Workability for employment”, a Training Course that took place in the beautiful frame of Baida, in Palermo.
The main objective of the TC was to provide youth workers with the ideas of “Workability” and “Flexicurity”, as useful tools to be employed towards their target group – young people – in order to support them in facing the challenges of the labour market. These two ideas refers to the flexibility and capacity to tackle youth unemployment and to empower young people.
Concerning the methodology used during the TC, creative methods have been used to deal with young unemployed in order to keep them up with new tools and new cultural, artistic and music dynamics, enhancing, therefore, the confidence of youth workers about the importance of culture, of arts and music, as non-formal tools for young people, to be employed both in professional and personal life, with benefits on both levels.
Among the several interesting activities carried out, the workshops on Music, Theatre of Oppressed, and Visual Arts have been particularly relevant: participants have had the chance to express their artistic skills, and share, through alternative and unconventional languages, their feedback on the TC and their feelings towards those issues they dealt with during the sessions, expressing according to their point of views the concept of workability and flexicurity.
The final outcome has been the realization of three performances, marked by an high degree of passion and commitment, which have showed from multiple perspectives the concepts at the basis of the Training Course.
