How to promote volunteering among young people with fewer opportunities and young migrants in Europe?

In&Out wants to create a network of cooperation and exchange of good practices between youth workers working in Europe with those working in the Caribbean.

Why the Caribbean?

Because our ADILES partners work in Guadeloupe, a French overseas territory, which is rich in culture, colours and traditions due to its history and geographical position. But where, for the same reasons, it is very important to promote volunteering and encourage young people to participate and break down certain stereotypes and cultural barriers.

This is possible only by providing youth workers methodological tools to strengthen their support to this target group. For this reason, we intend to:

  • implement international training to train professionals on the theme of migration and the accompaniment of young migrants through voluntary commitment and cultural activities;
  • engage young migrants and vulnerable youth through storytelling, dance and art workshops to improve the participation and integration and to fight prejudices promoting respect of human rights.

In&Out has partners from France, ItalySweden and Spain. Everyone works with young people on a daily basis, but what gives value to this project is that each one of them will bring their best abilities in order to create together an Open Educational Resources (OER) rich in materials for young people and youth workers.

We will be responsible for the modules dedicated to non-formal education and Reciprocal Maieutic Approach (RMA), Beecom will work on storytelling moduleDansare Utan Granser (Dancers without Borders) will instead devise those of dance and Jarit the artistic modules.

To discover all this and to know better what our “travel partners” will be for the next two years, we went right to Guadeloupe, from 7 to 14 November 2017, for the Kick off Meeting of the project, and thanks to the interesting and complete agenda prepared by our guests, we were able to get to know in depth the situation of young people and associations operating in the area. To learn more about our experience we invite you to read the article written by our Italian partners Beecom, very interesting.

The next meeting of the In&Out project will take place in Palermo in April 2018, and during a week of Training Course, youth workers will be able to experiment with the working techniques of others and adapt the skills learned in their daily work.

In&Out – Boosting disadvantaged youth and migrant integration through cultural and volunteering activities is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships in the field of Youth and brings together partners from 4 EU countries:
