Between 16th – 30th November 2015, a local workshop about “employability”, organised in the frame of the project FETE – From Expats to Experts: United Civil Society through Inclusion and Empowerment of Young Immigrants, took place in Palermo delivered by CESIE. FETE is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme (Key Action2: Strategic Partnerships in the field of Youth) and is implemented by four partner organisations from Denmark, Malta, France and Italy. The project is an opportunity to gain and improve their work experience as well as their soft skills, which can be used as a significant experience for their professional future.
15 young migrants, aged between 17 and 30 actively participated in the local workshop. During the workshop, 7 sessions were organised across 7 days with the aim to learn more about soft skills, how to have a good job interview, how to write a CV, problem solving and conflict resolution through non-formal learning methods.
The workshop aimed to make the participants aware of their own competences and career values to develop their professional goals. The workshop helped to increase opportunities for them to enter the labour market through the enhancement of their skills.
Participants’ feedback have been positive: the activities allowed them to get to know more about their soft skills coherent with employment-related competences and they have been very active and participated in all the sessions.
After the completion of the local workshop, the young participants will now have the opportunity to carry out 3 months of practical training as part of an internship. The internships will begin from next January 2016. During this phase, they will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a company, NGO or association related to their career interests and aspirations.
