It was a great celebratory occasion to accompany the end of school activities envisaged by Tutte le strade portano a scuola, designed to address school truancy.

The first of the final events was held on June 7th in Palermo, at the Comprehensive School “Amari-Roncalli-Ferrara”, which marked a great achievement, crowning the activities carried out over the course of the two annual school years, 2014/15 and 2015/16 at the Comprehensive School “Amari-Roncalli-Ferrara” and Technical Institute Transportations and Logistics Nautico Gioeni-Trabia.

Thanks to the co-financing of Fondazione con il Sud, the two scholastic institutes, with the associations CESIE, Nahuel, Officina Creativa Interculturale, La Piccola Officina have enriched the educational offerings available to students through in-depth activities of a scientific nature, throughout both curricular and extra-curricular time. The proposed activities have involved not only students but also parents and teachers.

During the day of the celebration, on each floor of the Roncalli school complex, exhibitions were hosted in relation to achievements pertaining to shared cooperative projects, workshops involving students and parents, performances and entertainment activities carried out on the day. The classrooms found on each floor contained students, parents and teachers spending an afternoon in positivity, utilizing together the many areas encompassed by the project.

The joy and sharing among all the participants have once again confirmed the importance of networking between schools, associations and communities. School truancy must be fought by joining forces, expanding the educational activity and the accompanying growth activity in and outside the schools, involving families, neighbourhoods and creating ongoing alliances between the school, the institutions and the third sector.

These reflections and many more will be shared next autumn in a closing event of the project, organized by networking with other local associations, which involve the local community on the issue of school truancy, on the strategies and actions necessary to be implemented.

All that remains is to thank all those who, in different ways, have shared this experience and have contributed with passion and dedication to the achievement of its objectives. Special thanks to all the students who took part in the activities and enriched this project with their joy and creativity.
