Objectives
- To disseminate and scale up good practices to foster the inclusion of newly arrived migrant children in the formal educational system in Austria, Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Spain and in the European Union;
- To allow schools to assess knowledge and validating prior learning of newly arrived migrants through the implemention of an innovative practice, the prior learning assessment tool;
- To support NAM students in the adaptation to the rules of a new school and the learning process of a host country, through the development of a mentoring program in European schools;
- To raise awareness of public opinion and European policy makers on the issue of social inclusion of students with migrant background.
Activities
- Analysis and exchange of institutional learning of the good practices identified (“prior learning assessment tool” and “mentoring programme”);
- Implementation of the two good practices in schools in Europe;
- Strengthening the capacities of teachers for the educational inclusion of NAM children;
- Awareness raising and dissemination of policy recommendation for the inclusion of NAM children.
