The modern phenomenon of human trafficking is often confused with the smuggling one or the most common migration, consequently feeding disinformation and non-tolerance.
YU WOK 2 END HT is the new and innovative Erasmus + project which regards this delicate and important social reality.
The goal of the initiative is in fact to raise awareness among young people against this modern scourge and to provide youth workers with valid tools in order to prevent, identify and support potential young victims of human trafficking. These objectives will be achieved through the development of digital resources and with a series of activities that will involve both youth workers and young people from local communities.
The 2-year project involves 4 partners from different parts of Europe, specifically Malta, Romania, Macedonia and Italy, and it will include various activities such as:
- Research on the level of knowledge, awareness and needs regarding the phenomenon;
- 3 Multiplier Events
- Mobility for young people and youth workers, the latter with a focus on the effective use of the tools developed by the project;
The representatives of each institution met on 19th and 20th February 2020 in Skopje in Macedonia and agreed on the first steps of the project. The first step involves a research phase with youth and youth workers currently in place. With the aim of establishing common and synergic guidelines, the partners met online on the last 6th of April, starting the first official project activity.
After the research will be concluded, the online manual will be developed and published in which it will be possible to find many activities to deal with the thorny topic of trafficking in terms of awareness and identification of the phenomenon with young people. Two other final resources will be an online course for youth workers on the prevention, identification and support of potential victims of trafficking and an app for identification and prompt intervention.
