Dance as a way to communicate over cultural discrimination
Can art be a way to overcome cultural discrimination? In order to answer this question, the INSART project proposes local trainings in each partner country, facing the topic of art as mediation in the intercultural fields. Each partner is proposing its own artistic mean to answer this question: MEH (UK) is dealing with visual arts, BERLINK (Germany) with photography, ELAN (France) with theatre and CESIE (Italy) with dance.
The training in Palermo will take place on Friday 8th April 2016 from 9:30a.m. – 4:30p.m. at CESIE office, Via Roma 94, Palermo. The training will be addressed to educators, youth workers, artists and people who involve dance in their work and operate in the intercultural field.
Participants will be facilitated to learn specific movement techniques that they can use in their working field with young people. The activities will be based on different artistic mediation methodologies, promoted by the partnership of the INSART project.
The training will be led by dancer and trainer Soad Ibrahim.

INSART is an innovative project which aims to provide real opportunities for personal and professional development for disadvantaged young people and young people from immigrant backgrounds across 4 European countries – through artistic experience. The project demonstrates how artistic techniques can give confidence to young people, and support them towards the labour market, developing their non-cognitive skills within a non-formal or informal environment as opposed to formal academic environments which are often inaccessible.
