CESIE is pleased to invite you to SPACIT final event, which will be held on Friday, 28th November 2014, at 4.00 p.m..
The SPACIT project aimed at creating the educational basis for teaching active citizenship, by making use of new technologies and location-based services. Nowadays, the so-called geo-media allow users to localize information, besides they give leave to user-generated constructions of spaces as a means to appropriate spaces in a critical way, leading towards an intense spatial awareness. So as to describe this process, the term “Spatial citizenship ” has been coined. The project is specifically targeted to high school and aspiring teachers.
The SPACIT partnership has developed a course on Spatial Citizenship and Education, now at your fingertips on Moodle. The course materials will be soon available for download on SPACIT website at www.spatialcitizenship.org.
SPACIT aims at providing school teachers with relevant tools, in order to support young citizens participating in decision-making processes within their communities, both at local and at International level. Designed as a hybrid course, blending online and face-to-face methodologies, SPACIT has been piloted with 20 high school teachers, in Iaşi (Romania), in July 2014. The finalized version of the course will be soon uploaded on line in all the projects’ languages, including English, German, Turkish, Romanian and Italian.
During the project’s final event, the SPACIT products will be introduced. Moreover, participants will have the opportunity of being involved in a short workshop concerning some of the activities featured in the course. As most of the materials are available online, we suggest participants bring their own laptops with them.
