Five Manucultura: Recommendations on Cultural Education in progress European partners are working together on Manucultura project: KulturKontakt (Austria) – coordinator, Alnatura (Germany), Museum of Contemporary Art (Croatia), CESIE (Italy), ARKEN Museum of Modern Art (Danemark).  The Erasmus+ funded project, key action 2 strategic partnership in the field of VET, sets out to encourage the exchange of best practices to promote an artistic approach to young apprentices and to encourage cultural education and expression. It aims at giving keys to cultural institutions (as such as museums), companies and vocational schools to develop the cultural education in their organisation.

All the partners are working on the recommendations to be illustrated with the different best practices they have experienced throughout the project. The aim is to share the positive effect of cultural education registered in the partners’ country, and enhance the attention towards the different “Arts” as tool of self-expression, cultural learning and acquisition of skills – relevant for the professional as well as personal development of young people attending Vocational schools.

From the 6th-8th of April 2016 the fourth Manucultura meeting took place in the Muzej Suvremene Umjetnosti – MSU (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Zagreb, Croatia.  This Museum was established on 21 December 1954 and acts today as a gallery and as an educational institution.

Partners had the chance to learn and to truly experience the methodologies that they used to enhance non formal education through art and a form of theatre. These were:

  • An approach to their project “Art, fun and birthday cake in MSU” designed for children;
  • The introduction to MSU educational department and its best practices;
  • A presentation of what is done in art schools through an intervention of art teachers on the Bauhaus project;
  • “Log in – log out” in which a playwright involved the group in a performance, which links the ways of self-expression trough social media and through art.

More information about these best practices will be published soon on Manucultura web-blog www.manucultura.net

The upcoming and final meeting will be held in Palermo in September 2016.

Research and childhood development: the Critical Incident Technique

The Critical Incident Technique (CIT) is a research method designed to analyze human behavior by collecting and categorizing direct observations of incidents that hold significant meaning within a particular context. SUSIEE integrates this powerful methodology into its workshops, emphasizing experiential sustainability and interculturality.
