How to improve educational and career guidance system to support disadvantaged young people?
Working with symbols represents for the professionals the opportunity to use a universal language.
Within the SymfoS project – Symbols for Success, we offer a free training course for 20 career academic and professional counsellors, psychologists, trainers, social workers and teachers with the aim of transmit basic skills of the SymfoS method and materials.
The training will be held on 5th and 6th April, from 3 pm. to 6 pm., at Quarto Tempo – Via Bara all’Olivella, 67), in Palermo.

During the training, we will present SymfoS approach and two consulting scenarios in which three different figures – the consultant, the client and the observers – will intervene through practical demonstrations:
- Scenario # 1 – Basic clearing methodology
The basic clearing – available in our digital library – allows to quickly identify the client needs and the level of intervention the young people need and establish the necessary support category (information only, counselling of competences/resources, holistic counselling).
- Scenario # 2 – Resource/Competence Pathway
This intervention is aimed at exploring the life pathway of the client, his objectives and the resources stressed to achieve a concrete goal.

We are looking for 20 professionals. Please register on eventbrite by Thursday 29th March.
Certification and Credits
The SymfoS training is being accredited by the Professional Order of Social Workers of the Sicilian Region. Participants registered in the Register of Social Workers will receive 1 credit/1-hour training.
About SymfoS
SymfoS – Symbols for Success is a 30-month project financed by the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnership VET. The aim is to promote an innovative education and career guidance method addressed to young disadvantaged people based on sets of symbols. This innovative approach is particularly effective aimed at young people with reading and writing difficulties, from disadvantaged backgrounds or migrants. The symbols help them to overcome communication barriers, to express their experiences easier and think about their future goals.
