Objectives

  • Develop and deliver six strands of artistic activity
  • Audience development to reach and engage young people as participants, audiences and as contributors to seminars and debates
  • Audience development to reach and engage migrants, refugees and recent arrivals, black and multi-ethnic communities, disabled people and those from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds
  • Raise issues, provoke discussion, stimulate debate and encourage actions addressing better integration of communities

Activities

  • Building of a “portfolio” of exciting young artists from each country
  • Deliver 4 free access strands of new work – Inside Out Performance (music and dance), Processional Theatre (street theatre), Liberty Art (sculpture, murals and graffiti) and Outside Digital Arts (moving image, projection, digital arts, virtual and alternative reality)
  • Delivery of integrated education/training work and a seminars programme
  • Delivery of a major Finale LIBERTY Festival

Results

  • 60+ strands of LIBERTY (encompassing Inside Out performances, Processional Theatre, Liberty Art, Outdoor Digital Arts, education programmes and seminar series)
  • Creation of the shared “portfolio” database of 750 young artists
  • Delivery of the 2021 Finale LIBERTY Festival programme

Impact

  • Achievement of rich engagement from new audiences that leads to ongoing involvement in cultural activity
  • Enhanced career opportunities for many young artists, providing life-changing experiences
  • Enhanced community integration and cohesion
  • Higher level of constructive debate around key themes and issues of the project, at a local, national and European level
