Recent adverse occurrences have shown the need to improve the international ability to prevent, prepare and respond to disasters. In every crisis, there is an opportunity for growth: what are the new opportunities hidden in the current COVID‐19 crisis?

The Erasmus+ project ReFace – Regions facing shocks: building resilient community aims to support key regional players from various sectors and subject fields in gaining and/or enhancing transversal competencies and the relevant up to date knowledge to build, further develop and maintain resilient regions and communities.

To this aim, project partners conducted a research about their countries’ economic, societal, health, environmental developments and related policies for crisis prevention and management. Partners analysed regional and national policy documents in the field of regional resilience to evaluate their countries’ competences and specific knowledge. Questionnaire surveys and semi-structured interviews added the opinion of public administrations and NGOs and other relevant stakeholders about their specific training needs.  The research provided fundamental insights from four European countries (Slovakia, Italy, France, Spain), which will be used as the main input to design the MOOC “Regions facing shocks: building resilient community” and for the Road map “Supporting a Resilient Region – a tool for the Sustainable Communities”.

Breaking the Silence: Uniting efforts to address the sexual exploitation of minors

The international conference “Breaking the Silence” promoted open dialogue and innovative strategies to protect vulnerable adolescents from sexual exploitation. Experts from France, Italy and Belgium analyzed the dynamics of the phenomenon and shared practical tools developed in partner countries. The event concluded by reaffirming the importance of European cooperation to prevent and combat this serious form of abuse.
