In&In Education is a project that aims at promoting the educational inclusion of male and female students with a migrant background and to address their specific needs, in order to facilitate their educational success and social inclusion in the European Union.

The first partner meeting was held on the 20th of May 2022: the consortium of organizations from three different countries (Spain, Greece and Italy) gathered online to discuss about the first steps to be taken for the launch of the project and about the expected results for the next 2 years, specifically:

  • The creation of an Interactive tool (mapping) on available local resources and good practices that favor the educational inclusion of girls and boys with migrant background, through an intersectional approach, focused on Madrid and Barcelona (Spain), Palermo (Italy) and Athens (Greece). The map will be developed in collaboration with local social sector NGOs, and will be shared among students, families and schools.
  • The development of an Interactive training module directed to teachers, about the educational inclusion of students with migrant background, through the intersectional approach.
  • The production of a video with testimonies of women and men with migrant background and with professional and personal experience, that may serve as a reference/role model for students. The video will be complemented with a guide for teachers, in order to use it as an educational resource that is empowering for students.

The main focus of the project is the intersectional approach, an analytical tool that recognizes that systemic inequalities are configured by the overlapping of different factors such as gender, origin and socio-economic background.

For instance, applying the intersectional approach involves not only the analysis of the inequalities suffered by women in general, but it considers other factors such as disabilities and/or minorities… The intersectional approach objective is to broaden the perspective and to have more comprehensive analyses tailored to the realities of the most vulnerable social groups in order to propose appropriate and relevant responses.

The other main beneficiaries of the project are teachers and educational actors from different educational stages (from pre-school to secondary school). They will be involved in the Interactive training module on educational inclusion of students with a migrant background, and they will be part of the analysis of the local context, through interviews and questionnaires: their input will be significant for the creation of the Interactive tool with good practices.
