Prof. Franco Rizzi, UNIMED Founder and General Secretary, left this world yesterday, 16th of February. All CESIE staff expresses sincere condolences to Prof. Rizzi’s family.
It is a great loss for all of us, his co-workers and colleagues at UNIMED, and for all those who knew him. He created and founded UNIMED, which has been and still is a beautiful adventure for all of us working in the International cooperation sector.
He was a professor, a Master and a friend for CESIE and his vision of life and of the Mediterranean has inspired our work and projects.
Some days ago, to commemorate the death of the writer Pedrag Matvejevic, Prof. Rizzi expressed his last greetings to his friend by mentioning one of his pieces, which we are going to share with you:
The sea and the shore, the islands in the sea and the ports on the shore, the images that offer us the one and the other changed over the navigation and during the landings.
The Mediterranean remains the same, we don’t.
We will remember Prof. Rizzi as a source of constant inspiration for our work in the Mediterranean area: none of us has remained the same person after meeting him.
