Youth employment has been at the core of several European initiatives, but still many NEETs are not looking for a job due to several reasons, including family responsibilities or health issues. The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly increased the urgency to introduce effective instruments to tackle youth unemployment, firstly by providing youngsters with the right skill set to meet current demand, especially in the entrepreneurial area.
To this aim, the partners of the Erasmus+ project IDEA have been working on the creation of tailored, innovative instruments and training materials to enhance and further strengthen the competencies of educators of adult learners in the field of entrepreneurship (in non-formal settings).
At a first stage, partners conducted a research with educators and representatives of micro and small businesses in order to identify current entrepreneurial methods used in the education of young adults and define necessary skills for being employed or to run a business.
Based on this analysis, the Interactive toolset supporting Development of Educators of Adults’ skills in Boosting Entrepreneurship among NEETs provides educators with an assessment tool for the evaluation of NEETs’ skills and the automatic identification of a customised learning path, thus connecting youngsters with real-life entrepreneurs of small and micro businesses.
The training materials contain tailored sections for educators and others specifically designed for NEETs, throughout 8 modules: Problem Solving, Work Under Pressure, Decision-Making, Financial Control, Teamwork, Creativity, Leadership, Communication. Each module includes the definition of a non-formal skill and a series of activities, real-life examples and good practices for its strengthening.
