The GEM IN project is officially coming to an end on 14 May 2022, and these last few months have been really intense.
During these last few months, the pedagogical kit consisting of the GEM IN board and cards has been completed and finalised; all of this has been done with the feedback received from the students who participated in the piloting over the last two years in mind.
The GEM IN BoardGame is therefore finally ready for use!
In addition, GEM IN was also presented during an event at the Gallery of Modern Art in Palermo focused on the analysis of good practices for inclusive education; the project and its resources were presented to an audience composed of teachers and representatives of the political class, and it was also an opportunity to reflect together on the potential of the game as an educational tool. The response of the participants to GEM IN was very positive, and we are pleased with how the event went.

On 5 May, all the project partners met in Strasbourg where the GEM IN project’s path was shared, the challenges faced in the various countries involved, and the pedagogical methodologies practised. The experience was exciting, as it was the first time the partners met face-to-face in the picturesque setting of Strasbourg and the institutions present at the conference made the meeting even more concrete.

After the finalisation of the educational products, CESIE was invited to schools, this time at the explicit request of the male and female students of the Santi Savarino High School. The aim of these meetings was to work together with the boys and girls to develop a game for the youngest primary school students. The Santi Savarino high school therefore welcomed us for three days of self-management, and together with them we reasoned on non-formal methodologies, on the game as a learning tool, and we supported them in devising four board games, each with methodologies, themes and rules chosen independently by the boys and girls. It was a very engaging and dynamic experience, which once again shows the great impact GEM IN has managed to have in these two years of the project.
It was a source of pride to be contacted by students who have shown to have understood the importance of non-formal education to such an extent that they wanted to share it with primary school children by creating new resources specifically for younger students!
