What if we can rewrite dominant narrations about immigration?
How can we stimulate debate about the role of work on the path to broader migrants inclusion?
FunKino it is a new model of migrants working inclusion through participatory approach to cultural production centered on the active involvement of 15 young asylum-seekers and recipients of international protection and a team of professionals from diverse creative sectors in the process of film production.
The main aim of the project – created by Zabbara – is to produce cultural contents that reflects our society multiculturalism and the necessity to encourage young migrants working inclusion in the cultural industry.
In particular, FunKino will consist in :
- The creation of a training laboratory for 15 migrant youth – asylum-seekers and recipients of international protection, between the ages of 18 and 28; participation will also be open to at most five unaccompanied migrant youth – , which will lead to the participatory writing of a film script through the use of diverse styles and languages typical of storytelling, fairy tale and illustration. The end product of this phase will be the storyboard of the short film;
- The realization of an animated short film emerging from the narrative ideas of the participants in the lab and aimed to stimulate a public debate that interrogates the relationship between workand condition of migrants in Italy and Europe;
- The organization of a public event in Palermo for the screening of the short film, the presentation of the project and the activation of the public debate. The event will take the form of a party in the Ballarò market and conclude with music and dance;
- The launch of an ideascontest for FunKino participants to present potential film subjects. A jury of experts from the field will analyze the proposals to generate a list of five finalists, from which they will then select one winner. The winner will be provided with a 5 month paid apprenticeshipin the Zabbara production.
