Proteste in Egitto“The young Egyptians need your support” our friends and partners write in the last hours about the tension that is getting worse in Egypt, telling us the events, protests, fears, problems, the desire of change, the need of democratic choices for the future of a nation.

So CESIE – European Centre of Studies and Initiatives – support Egyptian movement that, on the wake of Tunisian events, with courage and determination, is denouncing the demanding of social and economic policies that can give hope and perspective of a better future of Egypt.

And as we see in the popular movement and in the this demand one of the highest democracy form, we believe that these popular requests are able to realize the growth of a society, in a improvement process, desirable in every country.

The CESIE also hopes that intolerance and censorship end soon and that the Egyptian government takes into consideration the demands of social justice of the people, carrying out necessary political reforms that could change the conditions of life, economic inequality of people, in a nation where there are few rich and many poor people.

The important positions taken by the popular movement in these days to demand social and economic rights are a clear hope for change and a turning point for a more democratic country, viable and desirable solution.

And in these very important days for the history and future of a nation, we dedicate to our Egyptian friends the words of Mahatma Gandhi: ” In my view non-violence means to fight against evil in a more active and more real than with retaliation”.
