The ambitious aim of Citizens Xelerator was to promote change in regional, national and European strategies to foster the social inclusion and employment of adults with few vocational qualifications. The project acted to upgrade the social skills and strengthen the civic and democratic participation of adults in disadvantaged situations, creating an impact locally and internationally.

Citizens Xelerator has concretely contributed to change, also thanks to the commitment of CESIE ETS in the Palermo area. Citizens Xelerator involved a total of 276 participants, including seniors, NEETs and adult learners with low qualifications, through 18 training and participatory activities designed to meet their needs.

Main activities include:

  • 2 Think Tank sessions: moments of collective discussion and reflection to analyse local issues and propose innovative solutions for social inclusion and employment.
  • 8 micro-learning sessions, which involved 115 adults with few vocational qualifications. Through non-formal activities, essential topics such as sustainability, psycho-physical wellbeing, financial education, personal empowerment, career planning, career guidance, media information and education, and social empathy were addressed.
  • 5 ‘Create Your Action’: collaborative activities aimed at developing concrete actions for change in the local context, designed directly by participants and oriented towards active civic participation.
  • 2 ‘Citizens Xelerator Days’, which were the culmination of the project, creating spaces for dialogue and discussion between citizens, experts and institutions to promote democratic participation and opportunities for regeneration.

The activities organised within Citizens Xelerator were designed to meet the specific needs of the adults involved, offering them a concrete opportunity for retraining and personal growth. This approach has made it possible to improve the social and professional skills of people who did not have the chance to complete training courses at a young age, giving them a new opportunity for active and conscious participation in democratic and civic life, a right that belongs to everyone.

The impact of Citizens Xelerator goes beyond numbers: the project has intervened in small communities for a more inclusive society, where civic participation is within everyone’s reach.

We invite you to find out more about the project’s activities and results by watching the video that chronicles the experiences and workshops organised by our international partners. Be inspired by a journey that shows how, together, we can create opportunities for all.

MOVE: young people in action for an inclusive Europe

MOVE involved young people from Italy, Spain, Belgium and Cyprus to raise awareness of migration and promote social inclusion and European cohesion. Through workshops, campaigns and the MOVE Goose Game, participants developed empathy and awareness of the challenges related to inclusion. The course concluded with the presentation of the MOVE Decalogue of Inclusion, a tool for more cohesive societies.
