DICE: Finalisation of the Training Manual for professionals working with newcomers
How to foster professionals’ intercultural competences, enabling them to successfully work with newcomers?
This is one of the questions the DICE – Diversity, Inclusion, Citizenship, Empowerment project is trying answer to through the development of a training manual and online platform, aimed at deepening professionals awareness on topics like intercultural awareness, fighting discrimination and debate education, in order to enable them with new skills to effectively interact with and support newcomers.
From December 17th to 18th 2019 the partnership met in Rzeszow (Poland) at the third Transnational Partner Meeting, discussing the finalisation of the Training Manual as well as the creation of the online platform and transversal project activities.
As the manual’s training contents had already been pilot tested, the partnership’s task was to adapt the contents based on the given feedback and review the results together, before focusing on the next steps regarding the transformation of materials for the online platform.
In the first months of 2020 the five project partners from France, The Netherlands, Italy, Poland and Cyprus will dedicate themselves to the creation of contents for the online platform, which will contain different presentations, based on the developed training contents, as well as self-reflection and -assessment activities, group activities and tests, all aimed at the enhancement of professionals’ skills regarding diversity management, intercultural awareness and the successful support of their newcomers. The online material will be practical, user-friendly and easy to implement, thus being accessible to a broad variety of people interacting with newcomers in different contexts. Furthermore, the online training programme will be complimented by a certification at the end of the programme, thus providing the validation and recognition of the developed competences and will be nationally pilot tested by all project partners before its finalisation.
