CESAGRAM is dedicated to enhancing awareness, prevention, and protection for young people, focusing on critical issues such as grooming and missing persons.
CESIE’s contribution at the CESAGRAM final conference
CESIE, as a key partner in the CESAGRAM project, presented, during the project’s final conference The Missing Voice in Grooming, the innovative CESAGRAM curriculum, developed to address the prevention of child sexual exploitation and to raise awareness of the connections between grooming behaviors and missing persons issues. This curriculum is an important step in providing young people with the tools they need to understand and prevent grooming, recognize risky situations, and build their self-protection skills.
The CESAGRAM Curriculum: a three-module approach
The CESAGRAM curriculum consists of three interactive modules, each designed to empower young individuals with practical knowledge and skills:
Identifying dangers
The first module focuses on helping young people recognize the subtle warning signs of grooming, such as flattering language, isolation from friends and family, and pressure to keep secrets. By engaging in workshops and exploring real-life case studies, participants learn how to identify risky behaviors early, enabling them to prevent dangerous situations before they escalate.
Self-awareness
The second module emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, encouraging youth to trust their instincts and recognize when something feels wrong. Participants are taught how to set personal boundaries, recognize emotional triggers, and understand the concept of consent—critical tools for protecting themselves and establishing healthy relationships.
Prevent and respond
The final module empowers young people to take action, teaching them how to prevent grooming and respond effectively when faced with harmful situations. This module fosters leadership skills, equipping youth with the confidence to intervene, support peers, and communicate effectively during crises—whether through asking for help, reaching out to trusted adults, or using resources like hotlines.
Comprehensive sex education: a foundation for healthy relationships
In addition to the core modules, CESAGRAM integrates comprehensive sexuality education, an essential aspect of its curriculum. Given the complex and often confusing information young people encounter today, CESAGRAM provides clear, accurate, and inclusive education on relationships, consent, and reproductive health. This approach empowers youth to make informed decisions, navigate peer pressure, and build respectful, healthy relationships.
Shaping a safer future
At its core, the CESAGRAM curriculum is more than just an educational tool; it’s a call to action. By educating young people about grooming, self-awareness, and healthy relationships, the curriculum fosters a generation of informed, confident individuals who are equipped to protect themselves and others. CESIE’s contribution to the CESAGRAM project ensures that these resources are available to communities, helping create safer environments where young people can thrive.
