Informal care work still falls disproportionately on women today, limiting their participation in the labour market and fuelling a deep and persistent gender gap. Yet this imbalance is not inevitable: it can be addressed by raising awareness and changing everyday practices in companies, organisations and institutions.
The CareDivide project responds to this challenge with a free training programme designed for those who, every day, have the power to make a difference in the workplace: employers, managers, and HR officers and specialists. Workers who personally experience caregiving, or who have colleagues in this situation and wish to help create a more attentive and supportive work environment, are also welcome.
What to expect
The programme includes online sessions that are structured to encourage active participation and exchange among participants. The key topics include the gender gap in long-term informal care, the stereotypes that sustain it, and the family-friendly practices that organisations can concretely adopt, in line with the European Work-Life Balance Directive.
Objectives
The training aims to:
- strengthen awareness of the value of care work and its impact on gender equality and female employment;
- promote workplace policies and practices in companies that support work-life balance;
- challenge the gender stereotypes that fuel the informal care gap.
Who can take part?
The programme is mainly aimed at employers, managers, and HR officers and specialists. Workers who manage caregiving responsibilities, or who wish to promote a more inclusive company culture, can also take part.
Participation is free, subject to registration.
When?
The second session will take place on 16 September 2026, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM, online.
About the project
Care-Divide is funded by the CERV Programme (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values), aiming to address the gender gap in informal long-term care, particularly elderly care, by supporting caregivers and promoting gender equality in both work and caregiving through collaboration among employers, policymakers, the media, and civil society.
