EPODS: first test of the tools for Second Chance Education teachers

Which tools can be useful for the continuous professional development of teachers and trainers working in Second Chance Education?

The first Learning Teaching and Training Activity about the tools and resources developed within project E-PODS – onlinE PrOfessional Development in Second chance Education was held in Heerlen (Netherlands) on the 23^rd and 24^th November 2017.

The project partners have involved teachers and trainers from the 6 Countries of the Consortium E-PODS in the testing phase of the developed tools:

• the Second Chance E-Learning Offers (SCELOs) – e-learning courses for teachers and trainers to maintain high levels of support to students.
• the Second Chance Skills Portfolio (SCSP) – online tool for self-evaluation and digital Portfolio for an online European community of teachers and trainers working with NEETs (young people not in Education, Employment, or Training) and in Second Chance Schools.
• the Second Chance Moodle (SCOODLE) – online courses creation tool for teachers and trainers.

These activities have achieved a two-fold goal: bringing participants to know the new tools, and making an important contribution to improving of the developed products. The teachers have highlighted strengths and weaknesses of tools, which will be taken into account in the finalization phase of the products.

Next Training Activity to test the finalized products will be held in Palermo, Italy, in April 2018.

E-PODS  is funded by Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnership for Adult education and aims to:

• promote European integration of professional development of teachers and trainers in Second Chance education;
• set up an organic and growing database connecting tools, schools, teachers, trainers and beneficiaries.
