ESVOL is the new CESIE project promoting social leadership and social innovation education for sport volunteers. It is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission (Collaborative partnerships in the sport field). The aim of the project is to create useful tools that will help sport volunteers to develop their leadership and innovation skills according to their future aspirations and business ideas.

The kick-off meeting for the ESVOL project took place on 25th – 26th February 2019 in Istanbul (Turkey) with the participation of partner organisations from Turkey, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria and Greece.

The ESVOL project foresees the following activities in its 24 months implementation phase: partners will carry out a bibliographical research of academic publications and good practices, as well as a series of interviews in order to better understand the need of people, who dedicate their time to sport-based volunteering. Based on the results of this analysis, partners will develop a MOOC and a gamified platform that will become the training tools for the volunteers.  These instruments will be tested in pilot trainings in the five partner countries and the final versions will be available on the project’s website.

The next stage of the project will see partners conduct a research on sport volunteering, social leadership and social innovation in their countries, involve 150 sport volunteers in a survey regarding their training need and a focus group with local stake holders.

The next meeting will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria in September 2019.
