The 3rd meeting of the Working Group 4 of the project “School on Cloud – Connecting Education to the Cloud for Digital Citizenship (SoC)” took place on the 27th and 28th of May in Nicosia, Cyprus hosted by the University of Cyprus.
The SoC project, co-funded by the LLP Programme – Action AC3 Multilateral Network, aims at exploring new dynamic methods in education by promoting Cloud initiatives in the public and private sectors.
The project is an ICT Network which consists of 57 European partners that operate in different educational sectors, they represent 18 countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom,) and it features 10 schools, 21 universities, companies, NGOs, National Authorities, research centers, associations and VET actors.
The network members have been divided up in the following working groups which implemented the project activities:
- WG1: Managing Cloud-Based Developments (focus on the i-manager);
- WG2: Using the Cloud: the Innovative Teacher (focus on the i-teacher);
- WG3: Integrating the Cloud: Personalized Learner (focus on the i-learner);
- WG4: Future Scenarios for Education on the Cloud (focus on the i-future).
The first group analysed different leadership and management aspects of those education agencies that decided to exploit Cloud Computing technologies; the second group has been in charge of exploring Cloud computing impact on the role of teachers and teachers’ trainers. The third group dealt with personalised learning and digital functions offered by Cloud; CESIE makes part of the fourth group that explored future scenarios for the use of Cloud systems in education and training.
During the meeting, the WG4’s members discussed about the finalization of the deliverable 5.3 “Cloud-based education: scenarios for the future”, report; moreover they planned the WG4’s contribution for the final summit of the project’s Network, which will be held in Brussels in November 2016.
