The project FETE – From Expats to Experts: United Civil Society through Inclusion and Empowerment of Young Immigrants aims at providing participants from Italy, Malta, France and Denmark with a new opportunity to gain and improve their work experience as well as their soft skills, which can be used as a significant experience for their professional future.
The young participants from each partner country, that met in St Julian’s, Malta, from 20th to 26th September 2015 for the FETE youth workshop, had the possibility to share their own experiences as first generation immigrants from non EU-countries. For example, the group that represented CESIE was made up of young people caming from Morocco, Tunisia and Georgia that currently live in Italy.
During the workshop, were organised many sessions and laboratories with the aim to learn more about each other through non-formal learning methods. Young people had the opportunity to talk about fighting stereotypes in the local communities, how to undertake a job interview; they also talked about the Youthpass, the European recognition tool for non-formal and informal learning in youth work also abroad.
During the meeting, partners investigated a successful inclusion strategy, starting from research findings collected in each partner country and from the internships firstly implemented in Malta. This autumn, other partners will implement their local workshop and internships in Italy, France and Denmark.
FETE is a two year project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships in the field of Youth. The project involves 4 partners: Crossing Borders (Denmark – Coordinator), CESIE (Italy), People for Change Foundation (Malta) and CNAM Conservatoire national des arts et métiers – Pays de la Loire (France).
