On the 13th of July 2014, the very intense and informative training course “KNOW, a call to develop youth skills” in Palermo has come to an end, funded with the support of the European Commission, under the Youth in Action Programme, Action 4.3.

It brought together from 5th till 13th of July – 40 participants of various age from Italy, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and UK to learn, share and motivate.

The project addressed the critical issue of youth unemployment and in Europe by applying different non-formal methods of work throughout 8 days: informative sessions, group-building, mapping exercise, creative thinking methods, open space technology and many more.

KNOW, by bringing together participants from different countries, has acted as a platform for the dialogue about the differences between the countries in the level of unemployment and the work that is done by the governments. The participants started with general information and mapping of the situation of youth unemployment in EU, sharing the information among each other throughout the programme. They also learned about creative thinking and had a chance to put in on practices in a series of activities, which included creation of memes, social campaigns, role paly, etc.

And last but not least, the participants have discussed the importance of EU elections and why it is important to vote, have learned about the existing initiatives and programmes of European Union in the field, such as Erasmus+ and Youth Guarantee, to use as a follow up to the project and among the new networks/partnerships created.

As a result of the TC, participants brought home a big “knowledge luggage” together with intercultural and intergenerational experience to be disseminated in their local community and to the youth they work with.
