More language descriptions and language tests will soon be available on the ProLang web-portal for students, people in mobility programmes and all eager learners. Partners of the ProLang project attended the 4th coordination meeting at CESIE office, in Palermo, on June 12th– 13th 2014, in order to discuss the achievements of the project, as well as the future steps and elements to be improved.
“ProLang – Promotion of less used European Languages to youth on the move” is a two-year multilateral project financed by the European Commission under the Lifelong Learning Programme – Key Activity 2, aiming to promote language learning and linguistic diversity in Europe.
A first part of the meeting was dedicated to a review of the work carried out so far, with a particular focus on the promotional models adopted by the academic partners to advertise their language courses and the promotional materials to be produced over the next few months.
Partners focused on potential strategies to make the language tests on the prolang.net portal more user-friendly and attractive for students interested in learning less-spoken European languages. The engagement of more language institutions on the web site, together with their language descriptions and tests is the solution adopted by the partnership, in order to widen the language offer on the portal, hence making it more attractive. Each partner will focus on specific languages, and will contact the main language institutions in each country to involve them in the exploitation of the platform. CESIE will focus on the following languages: Italian, Greek, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Swedish.
The suggested improvements will contribute to making the platform a reference point both for institutions offering language courses and for students on the move looking for local language courses.
Three language tests are already available on the ProLang platform, test yourself! Try and take the Lithuanian, Slovene or Slovak language tests! A certificate of completion is now issued for all the prolang.net users who decide to make a step into a new language by taking the test.
Apart from CESIE, six more partner organisations participate in the project: three universities (Vilnius, Bratislava and Ljubljana), two Slovenian organizations with expertise in the field of ICT and European mobility (Spinaker and Virtualis), and an organisation from Warsaw, Poland (Michal Exceed), with experience in online platforms.
Partners will be working on updating prolang.net in the next months and will discuss the results of their activities at the next partner meeting, which will be held in Koper, Slovenia in November 2014.
