Theatrical Performance USERS at the Montevergini Theatre
From Sunday 11th to Friday 16th 2012 the CESIE – European Centre of Studies and Initiatives – puts on the play USERS at the Montevergini Theatre of Palermo.
Users was born in the field of the VSAV project – Virtual Stages Against Violence – funded by the European Programme Daphne III, realized in cooperation with the University of Studies of Palermo with the aim to give more knowledge and awareness about the opportunities and the risks that young people may have while using the new technologies and the new media. The play starts from the homonymous play written by Anton Giulio Pandolfo and Soad Ibrahim, that will be on stage with 5 different interpretations of the text, in the four partner countries of the project (Italy, Germany, Austria, Romania). On stage Filippo Luna, Alessandro Meringolo, Marcella Favilla, Enrico Sortino and Daria Castellini ready to confront themselves with the different and sophisticated technological languages of the Third Millennium that are linked to poetry thanks to the Greek tragedy, its myths, its legends and its metaphors. The scenography was realized by Daniele Di Luca and Gandolfo David, the costumes and the masks were realized by Davide Padiglione, the music and the sounds by Vincenzo Biondo, the video by Menteplastica, and directed by Anton Giulio Pandolfo.
A play that talks about this time, pushed towards the very close future. A future where everything has already unbelievably happened: histories of men, of their mortal and immortal existences, jammed inside the virtual world of a social network where, at the end, they will find their own lost identity.
The debut is scheduled for Sunday the 11th of March 2012 at 18:00 at the Montevergini Theatre. The play will be repeated for the schools from the 12th to the 16th of March at 10:00 and the 16th of March once again in the evening at 21:00. The entry is free, with obligatory reservations at the phone number 091 6164224 or through the email segreteria@cesie.org.
