December the 22nd took place in Palermo at “CESIE – European Centre of Studies and Initiatives” the meeting of the founding partners for the establishment of “CONGASS – NGO Coordination and Solidarity Sicilian Associations”.
After several months of preparation meetings, a group of Sicilian organizations have formed a regional coordination of NGOs, which in many other regions of Italy is a reality now stable, in order to create a common reference point for those who deal with reality international solidarity in Sicily and give a single reference to public administration in the funds management and policies for cooperation.
The representatives of the following organizations were at the constitution as the founding members: Academy of Applied Psychology “,” ARCI Sicily “,” CE.SIE – CEuropean Centre of Studies and Initiatives”,” CISS – Cooperazione Internazionale Sud Sud “,”COPE Cooperation emerging countries “, “ENGIM – National Josephites Murialdo, information centers,” Mani Tese Sicily”, “Association of cooperating Tulima.
For three early years, the founding members Assembly “CONGASS – NGO Coordination and Solidarity Sicilian Associations ” elected as president Sergio Cipolla, current president of the CISS.
In particular, the CONGASS objectives include: promoting a culture of international development cooperation and international solidarity in Sicily and other southern regions, the reference to regional cooperation of NGOs, contribute to the development of strategies and regional national and European cooperation policies, encouraging the development and dissemination of ethical and operative standards.
The registered office of CONGASS is settled at the CISS association in 2/ A, Marconi Street in Palermo.
