Support the reform of Mongolia’s education system by developing future-oriented curricula and supporting teachers in adopting digitization processes and green skills.
Context
Since the late 1990s, the government of Mongolia has adopted several policies to promote sustainable development, with specific interventions in the educational sector aimed at enhancing digitization and green skills of teachers and professorsɜ. Despite these efforts, the country’s higher education institutions continue to perform unsatisfactorily in terms of educational offerings, curricular content and targeted skills development. The RETEACH project was created to bridge this gap by fostering collaboration between HEIs, European organizations, and Mongolian institutions, with the goal of disseminating and consolidating digital and green skills through a long-term ripple effect.
Objectives
- Capacity building of national and institutional administrators, educators and researchers on teacher training programmes, in line with the national goals of general education, the European Green Deal and digital development.
- Development of the ‘Teacher Education Concept for 2027-2032 (TEC)’, which promotes the transition from traditional to future-oriented, green and digital education.
- Development of benchmarks for initial teacher education at different levels and review of selected bachelor and master programmes.
- Review of teacher education short programmes.
- Piloting of revised teacher initial education (bachelor, master and short programmes).
- Revision of in-service teachers’ continuing professional development practices.
Activities
- Development of a Teacher Training Kit based on green and digital teaching practices applied in Europe.
- Creation and application of the ‘Teacher Education Concept for 2027-2032 (TEC)’.
- Creation and application of the ‘Benchmark for Teacher Education in Mongolia (BTEM)’.
- Revision of 11 degree programmes and two Teacher Education Short Program (TESPs).
- Improvement of educational practices for continuing teacher education.
