How to sum up the results of a three-year project? How to share the commitment and the results created by the AROSE partnership to make them available to the community?
La Scuola Infinita was the name CESIE decided to give to the Multiplier Event held within the scope of AROSE: Advancing and reassessing oral skills for English. It was an excellent opportunity to focus on important language teaching and learning issues and present the project’s main result aimed at enhancing teachers’ assessment skills and helping ESL students improve their oral production and reception skills.
CESIE has invited teachers and educational stakeholders to participate in the event, which was open to students, parents and the general public, so as to:
- Better disseminate AROSE results (IO1, IO3 and IO4) and methodology and;
- Let other English teachers learn more about the tools and materials they can use to improve their assessment skills.
The event started with a reflection on language learning processes since participants were asked to share their experiences and talk about the challenges they faced when learning and teaching a foreign language. After the discussion aimed at activating previous schemata and cognitively engaging participants, they listened to a presentation regarding multilingual competence and the relationship between language learning and soft skills development. Then, participants were introduced to some of the approaches proposed in the AROSE training course, i.e. the humanistic approach in language teaching as well as non-formal methodologies. Afterwards, they could explore and test some of the techniques presented by the project. They shared their impression in a debate. In the end, the facilitator thoroughly explained the scope and the goals of the AROSE project, allowing participants to get to know better the resources and the platform they could access by simply scanning the QR codes. All the participants enjoyed the activities implemented since they could experiment with helpful tools and resources for language learning and teaching.
We would like to invite all the ESL teachers and educational stakeholders to have a look at the amazing set of resources created by the AROSE partnership and join the community.
