What does the term resilience mean? Being resilient means taking part in the game of uncertainty and preparing for possible threats. How to prepare, then, in the most effective way possible?

ReFace project aims to contribute to the creation of resilient communities by providing a series of innovative tools to strengthen the skills of key actors in this area.

On September 8 and 9, 2022, project partners met in Palermo, hosted by CESIE, to discuss together the progress achieved and the next activities to be carried out.

The partners thoroughly analysed the feedback collected during the MOOC piloting “Preparing regions for emergencies and disasters: creating resilient communities,” conducted in 4 different countries-Italy, Slovakia, France, Spain. The training involved representatives of public administration, university students, NGOs, and other actors active in regional development, who were guided in the use of the online learning platform and shared their suggestions for finalizing the resource in the most appropriate way according to the specific needs of their country.

During the meeting, the final version of the Roadmap “Sustaining a Resilient Region – Tool for Communities” was also presented – an innovative tool aimed at providing an action plan, including suggestions and resources, for anyone who wants to contribute to strengthening the resilience of their community and/or region.

The two resources will soon be freely available online on the project website, in 5 language versions: English, Slovak, Italian, French, Spanish.

In the coming weeks, project partners will organize informative events in their countries, during which it will be possible to test the online training course and contribute to its finalization.

From Dreams to Discoveries: How STEAM Tales inspire the next generation of girls in STEM

Rita Levi-Montalcini, a brilliant scientist and Nobel laureate, overcame the difficulties of her time to revolutionize neurobiology and pave the way for new discoveries in treating diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s. STEAM Tales is inspired by her story to motivate girls to explore STEM by offering female and diverse role models and breaking down gender stereotypes. The project also includes hands-on experiments to engage young people interactively and stimulate their interest in science.
