“Today the rights of migrant women and gender equality are recognised as pillars of our society.”
With this affirmation of the CREATE BALANCE campaign we set the International Migrants Day.
The International Migrants Day has been celebrated around the world since 2000, when it was proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations taking into account the large and increasing number of migrants in the world. On that day, in 1990, the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families was also adopted.
With the campaign CREATE BALANCE we raise awareness on the crucial role of business sector in supporting migrant women, promoting their participation in the labour market and enhancing gender balance.
In line with the strategic objective for the Council of Europe’s work to promote gender equality and women’s rights under the Gender Equality Strategy 2018-2023, we raise awareness and call for action to protect the rights of migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women and girls, and support their social and labour inclusion!
To mark the International Migrants Day, join the campaign!
