CESIE gives you the opportunity to participate in a project of Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg asbl (Luxembourg) and realize your own experience of European Volunteering  for a period of 12 months, starting from September 2013.

Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg  organisation (click here if you would like to have more information) welcomes volunteers from abroad in order to achieve the following aims:

– work on development education in primary and secondary schools, in youth associations and in a world shop for fair trade products and philosophy.

– raise awareness and a sense of empathy with disadvantaged producers in the South.

The program provides an opportunity for the volunteer to choose one of the following activities (and also asks you to specify in your motivation letter which of the three activities is applying for):

  • ACTIVITY 1: SCHOOL PROJECTS
  • ACTIVITY 2: YOUTH PROJECTS AND WORLD SHOP ASSISTANCE
  • ACTIVITY 3: OFFICE RELATED PROJECTS

The volunteer is  also invited to attend language courses for up to 6 hours a week. The volunteer may choose among the 3 languages currently spoken in Luxembourg: Luxembourgish, German, French. The courses are fully paid by the host association and the hours spent in the language course are part of the activities hours of the volunteer.

Profile of volunteers:

  • from 18 to 30 years;
  • interest  in fair trade and in North-South relations in general, making pedagogical experiences through working with children and youth and expanding fair trade awareness;
  • good knowledge of German or French languages;
  • being open minded towards people and having an idea about voluntary service;
  • capacity to work independently;
  • ability to work on the computer.

The volunteer will be lodging in a volunteer house shared with volunteers of other associations and located next to public transport facilities. Lodging is paid by the host association. The volunteer may use the kitchen area at the host association to prepare lunch. She/he may even cook a typical meal of their home country. This may also facilitate the integration of the volunteer in the association’s staff. For breakfast and dinner the volunteer house has a kitchen equipped with appliances and utensils. The volunteer is given a monthly food allowance. The volunteer will have the possibility to benefit from a card giving him/her free access to the national transport network for one year.

If you are interested in participating, please send your CV and a cover letter in which you explain why you are interested, what activities you want to indulge and how do you contribute to the project. Send both documents in German or French to the email address: sve@cesie.org, contact the same email address if you wish further information.  Deadline: As soon as possible!

“Palermo come persona” è una mostra di storie illustrate di Palermo. Per sette mesi, abbiamo chiesto ad abitanti stabili e temporanei di immaginare come sarebbe stata Palermo, se fosse una persona: avrebbe un sesso definito, che aspetto avrebbe, quale sarebbe la sua personalità…?
