How to support managerial and academic staff of Tunisian universities in developing skills about governance, financial management and quality assessment?

In the week from 3 to 7 December 2018 at the University of Siena (Italy) was held the Training of Trainers activity of project SAGESSE - Improving Governance in the Higher Education System in Tunisia. SAGESSE aims to support the process of reform and modernisation undertaken by the Higher Education Institutions of Tunisia in connection with the post revolution national change.

The training - managed by the European partners of the project - was attended by presidents, vice-presidents and general secretaries of the Tunisian universities involved in the project, as well as by representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and of the National Institute for Evaluation, Quality Control and Accreditation in Tunisia.

The training activities covered the following topics:

  • Strategic planning (delivered by the University of Siena)
  • Impact assessment of strategic choices and support for change (delivered by the University Paris 1 - Panthéon-Sorbonne)
  • Certification and Quality Accreditation Process in Higher Education (delivered by the University of Barcelona)
  • Evaluation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (delivered by the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and the National Institute for Evaluation, Quality Control and Accreditation of Tunisia)
  • Social Responsibility of universities (delivered by CESIE and the University of Sousse)

Participants in the training will be responsible for transferring the knowledge and skills learned to other managers and administrators within their own institutions in Tunisia.

During the week a public session was also organized in the historical Aula Magna of the University, where the support to the constitutional transition in Tunisia was illustrated, and the international program PRIMA – Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area was presented.
