Which materials are useful for employees in tourism companies who provide on-the-job training to colleagues? How can tourism employees be effectively supported in their daily job?
The TTRAIN portal for on-the-job learning in tourism is now available: www.trainingfortourism.eu.
The online Learning Portal was created as part of the Tourism Training the Trainers – TTRAIN project. During the project a new learning model for on-the-job learning in tourism was set up and tested. The course based curriculum provides tools for those working in a supervisory capacity or as team managers in tourism for training their staff and promoting competence development.
The Online Portal contains four competence areas:
- Social and Communication Skills
- Training Skills
- Adaptability and Problem Solving
- Organisation and Continuous Learning
In each field, users can find self-assessment questionnaires, which also provide tips how to improve the respective skills. For tourism trainers, there are instructions and tips for the organisation of work-based training sessions and sample practical exercises that employees can undertake directly in their companies.
The online portal and learning materials created in the project are freely accessible. The material is available in English, and the curriculum is also available in Italian, Icelandic, Finnish and German.
TTRAIN is a two-year project funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programme and it will be concluded at the end of August.
The project partnership holds together 5 organisations:
- Bifrost University (Iceland, coordinator);
- BEST Institut für berufsbezogene Weiterbildung und Personaltraining GmbH (Austria);
- Kajaani University (Finland);
- Icelandic Travel Industry Association (Iceland);
- CESIE (Italy).
