If you were in Brussels on 29-30 March 2017 probably you noted that many people were chatting about entrepreneurship, matching and relationships. Around 200 Intermediary organisations of the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme from all over Europe gathered for the EYE Networking meeting that was hosted by the European Commission.
We, “StartUp” project partners from Italy (CESIE), Spain (Cambra de Comerç de Barcelona), Portugal (Portuguese Association for Young Entrepreneurs), UK (North East Business & Innovation Centre Ltd), Slovakia (Cambre of Commerce Italo-Slovacca), France (ADICE) and Latvia (BA School of Business and Finance), were among them.
Immersed in the discussions of the challenges and achievements of the programme, we were trying to find new matches for our Entrepreneurs at the same time building relationships between New and Host Entrepreneurs across Europe.
In case you have never heard about Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, here are the main points what this exceptional programme is about:
- New Entrepreneurs (NEs) who are thinking about setting up their own business or have done so within the last three years can spend a period of time in another country and learn from the experienced Host Entrepreneurs (HEs).
- The exchange between NE and HE lasts for a period between 1 and 6 months and is partly financed by the European Commission.
- NEs acquire relevant skills for managing a small or medium-sized enterprise (SMEs) and improve the know-how in running business.
- HEs benefit from fresh ideas and new points of view.
- It’s a win-to-win collaboration, as both participants discover new European markets, business partners, and different ways of doing business.
CESIE acting as a “Local Contact Point” supports NEs and HEs in the registration process, in finding the right entrepreneurial match and in carrying out their business exchange.
