“SMART” is a project of the Erasmus + Programme, under Key Action 2, Strategic Partnership with a duration of 24 months – from September 2014 to July 2016. The project involves 7 partners from Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, Belgium, Italy and The Netherland, representing University, Second chance schools, regional authorities and civil society organisations. The partners will work hand in hand to create a quality measurement system for second chance education and providers of non-formal and informal learning.
The 3rd partner meeting of the SMART project took place in Limerick, Ireland, from 5th to 7th of October 2015. The partners met for the third time to talk about the outcomes of the training need analysis and to discuss about the quality indicators identified at each partner level. An important focus was given to the systematic measurement system and the design of the e-platform. The partners also have agreed on the future steps and provided updates of the activities and results.
On October 7th, the third Multiplier event, as a closing event of the 3rd partner meeting, hosted by LCETB. Around 80 teachers took part in the event, as well as policy-makers active in the field of education invited by LCETB. During the event, the project coordinator gave an overview of the project, together with its objectives, main activities and results, while Suzanne Dillon, DES Assistant Chief Inspector, gave a speech about Informal Learning in the Irish Context.
The final part of the event was dedicated to an exchange between partners and teachers, who gathered in three consultative forums (“Measuring informal learning the SMART way using Quality Indicators”, “SMART ways to monitor and evidence success”, “SMART Training for Teachers”) facilitated by three LCETB members. The public gave a positive feedback about the event, which had a very wide impact and gave all participants an opportunity to share their experience with second-chance education and tools to make it more effective.
The next steps in SMART will be to finalise the Training Needs Analyses report, the development of the training modules and the finalisation of Measurement indicators.
