LangMOOCs: development of a MOOC for language learningLangMOOCs – Language Massive Open Online Courses is a project co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, KA2 Strategic Partnerships in the field of Adult education aiming to spread the use of Massive Open Online Courses for language learning in non-academic institutions.

The project partners  Active Citizens Partnership (Coordinator – Greece), CESIE (Italy), Iberika education group gGmbH (Germany), Dacorum Council for Voluntary Service (United Kingdom) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway) met in Trondheim, Norway, on February 18th and 19th 2016 to discuss about the progress of the project and the development of the intellectual outputs.

The LangMOOCs Toolkit, third output of the project, is currently being developed through contributions from all partners: the first version has been completed and will be finalised over the next months based on the results of the piloting phase.

In addition to this, all partners are producing an Open Educational Resource (OER) in each of the partnership languages (Greek, Italian, German, English and Norwegian), based on 6 common thematic sections and on shared learning objectives. The OERs produced will therefore vary according to the language taught but will be based on a common structure (addressing speaking, writing, listening and reading skills) and will include a common introductory overview of the resource as well as an evaluation survey. The resources will then feed into a MOOC which will be piloted with educational providers with a particular focus on non-academic learning providers, schools, language teachers, trainers but also individual learners.
