Inclusion of minors with intellectual disabilityRepresentatives of CESIE attended the kick-off meeting of the project TEDDIP’Europe (co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships in the field of Youth) that took place in Perpignan, France on 19th and 20th of January, 2016.

The project aims to help to ingrate minors with an intellectual disability into the community-based support structures in line with the Recommendation of the Committee of Ministers of Council of Europe CM/Rec(2010)2 to member states on deinstitutionalisation and community living of children with disabilities. The project also aims to reinforce professional EU networking and training, to give more value to educators and to provide them with the opportunity to exchange their different working practices and methodologies, to enhance EU citizenship of TEDDIP children and finally to foster the process of integration of young TEDDIP.

The objectives of the project will be reached by, firstly, conducting a thorough analysis, in reference to each national context, on the state of de-institutionalization of the support structures for young TEDDIP and of the normative context led by national government. Moreover, a good practice guide of experiences and methods to be used by the educators and youth workers dealing with TEDDIP target will be created.

During the two years of the project 5 short-term mobilities will be implemented targeted at both educators and TEDDIP youth giving them an opportunity to participate in experiments and educational workshops on professional practices of partner organizations. Educational video showing the experiences and workshops implemented during the mobility experiences will be created. Finally, recommendations will be produced in order to give suggestions to institutions at the local/ National and European levels to enhance the rights of young TEDDIP and foster their inclusion.
