DSC: Digital education to reduce the generational gap

Is it possible to reduce the gap that exists between adults and younger people related to the use of ICT?

The first meeting amongst partners of the project DSC – Digital Senior Citizen took place in Nice (France) on 26^th October.

DSC aims to extend the digital skills of those who train adults and equip them with new skills and methodologies, also through an OER (Open Educational Resource). The project was born from the need to reduce the gap that exists between adults and younger people related to the use of ICT. Thanks to the new educational resource, which will be created during the project and which will be free and open to all, the project partners aim to have an impact that will be able to help the over 60s enhance their digital competences through a personalised learning path. Even services for the elderly, over time are becoming more and more digitalized.

Therefore, developing educators competences in effective teaching of digital skills and also increasing the digital competences of older people can directly impact on the quality of life and access to services!

At the end of the work on the OER (Open Educational Resource), the consortium will implement a piloting in which the resources produced will be tested with educators working with the over 60s and also a training will be organised in which the trainers will work directly with them.

During the meeting, the partners discussed the objectives of the project, how best to approach the target group (the educators) and how to disseminate the project. The next meeting of the consortium will be in February in Poland hosted by Danmar Computers, when the work on the OER will begin.
