The POLYGLOT – Multilingual education in preschool age project has made forward important steps in recent months. Different workshops with educators and parents have been organized in order to increase the diffusion of the innovative methodology proposed by the project. As a matter of fact, POLYGLOT supports the learning of a second foreign language among children aged from 0 to 6 years old through the open educational resources.

In particular, CESIE found a strong interest in the Co-operative PUERI, a co-operative working in Palermo, expert in the child educational sector and which embraces those that are the rights enshrined in the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The POLYGLOT project was presented to parents and educators of the PUERI co-operative so that they can transfer and learn the methodologies and the resources presented in the online course for parents and the online course for educators.
Specifically, 132 parents and 20 educators were involved in meetings where the project, the open educational resources and the online courses aimed at teaching a second language in the family and school context were presented.
The educational facilities that are based in Palermo and who have been involved in the workshops are: Kalòs; Kindergarten and children’s playground; Santa Lucia Childhood School; Spazio 06; Bimbi Piccoli: Kindergarten; The Ludoteca del Giardino.
In addition, CESIE has also participated in the Family Village event organized by Babyplanner.it held in Palermo at “via del Fante” and featuring childcare education. More than 50 companies, schools and associations offering childcare services attended the event. This was a crucial moment to present the project to the local community and to the parents who participated at the event.

POLYGLOT is a 3-year project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships in the field of school education, aiming to foster language learning from an early age by exploring the potential of Open Educational Resources and the new opportunities offered by media and by the use of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.
